Sad but true, deception seems to be the way of the day,
and open and honest people often get used for play,
but I choose integrity, and living the truthful way,
and if I'm perceived as stupid, or taken advantage of,
I'll ignore the ridicule, and instead, choose to exude love.

I don't know when it happened--this change that brought all the lies;
That telling falsehoods came so readily, and the norm is taking others for rides...
That pranks often boil down to pulling the wool over others' eyes.

I've often been labelled gullible, but it's just because I could never understand why
people found it sensible to mask truth and choose to lie.

"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
-George Orwell
