I Woke In A Dream By Dave Stahl

I woke in a dream at quarter to three
All the children of the world were whisperin’ to me
Each one of ‘em sayin’ “Oh say we can’t see why you deny this new reality.”

We’ve heard all the stories and listened to your lies,
The truth can’t be hidden’ ‘cuz we’ve opened our eyes,”
That the temperature’s rising only a fool still denies,
but wealth will silence the wise.

You’ll awaken one day to discover
You’ll tell yourself that you should have known,
Scientists been sayin’ it since seventy-three,
Now it’s flooded your golf course and flattened your home.
It seems like too much of a bother
to worry about what climate scientists say,
But the ocean is already ragin’
And there’s a damn good chance it will ruin’ your day!

The fate of the world is for you to decide,
There’s a hurricane comin’ that won’t be denied,
You can’t run away ‘cuz the wind gets inside,
It will blow you away with all your money and your pride.

You’ll awaken one day to discover
You’ll tell yourself that you should have known,
Scientists been sayin’ it since seventy-three,
Now it’s flooded your golf course and flattened your home.
It seems like too much of a bother
to worry about what climate scientists say,
But the ocean is already ragin’
And there’s a damn good chance it will ruin’ your day!

I fell out my dream, I was shaken to the core,
Dripping with sweat by the time my feet hit the floor,
Those children were gone, but nailed to the door,
Was a serious message we can no longer ignore,
If you mess with mother nature you ain’t gonna score,
You’re gonna find out she’s nobody’s whore.
There’s a damn good chance she’ll ruin your day.
