Like most of you, I am overly critical of my own work. Everything that I wrote two years ago makes me cringe today, and everything that I write today will likely have the same effect two years from now. In the past I have been discouraged by this, but as I get older I realize this is why I must continue to write. If I scoff at how foolish yester-me sounds, it must mean that I'm getting better, or wiser. I must produce the best work I can in the present, and look forward to the progress that the future indubitably holds.

A committed author and poet, I have spent the last four years (and two years in Seoul, South Korea before that) teaching English in Beijing, China, where I have found, as well as hiking and many great lifelong friends, a lot of inspiration for my novels and poetry.
The shock and awe of living in the grey, smoggy Beijing suburb of Xi'erqi, when contrasted with the green splendour of the surrounding mountains has had a profound impact upon my poetical mind. As such I am currently compiling a collection of sonnets entitled "Made in China" that revolves around much of the people and environments I have directly come into contact with.
A passionate Older Children's and early Young Adults writer, I have also just published my debut novel, "Jack Strong and the Red Giant" on Amazon:

I am currently editing the sequel as well as writing a new novel called "Dragon Rider" about a young boy who finds a dragon in the woods ...
CHARLTON, LONDON
I am an Irish writer and lecturer living in London who had my first work of fiction published in 2014. 'The Charlton Men', the first part of a trilogy set in South London, combines literary fiction with a love of football. Set in the historic surrounds of Greenwich and Charlton, the novel interweaves the rich heritage of the area's past with contemporary themes of social disenfranchisement and a search for meaning.
The book has done well so far in terms of sales and publicity but I am always keen to attract new readers. This platform is a showcase of some of my work, which I would rather share for free than sell on Kindle for example. I write not for profit but because of a love of stories and language, something that I have had all my life, from as early as I can remember.
Outside of writing and teaching I am interested in travel, music, film, football, craft beer, and photography. I also write articles for blogs, newspapers, and academic journals.

I have been amused my entire life. I have also realized that I'm a "seeker of truth," which is often clouded within the swirling vapors of politics, religion and hogwash. My greatest joy is writing. My books, stories, observations, rants and on occasion, nonsense.
I hope to experience an epiphany of excellent enlightenment and new found wisdom in my elder years, if not, I will most likely just open a stall at the local flea market, sell collectible lunch boxes and drink beer. I do hope you will take time and indulge yourself in a few of my scripts and if you enjoy them, then I'm happy. If they are not to your taste, well then bite me.
Thanks......Charlie

Finding time to write has been tough, but it's too ingrained to stop now. The problem is going back to finish works I started three years ago while the shiny new thing jumps up and down and screams my name.
Anyway, I may not finish all of what I start to write, but I'm going to have fun trying. Thanks for stopping by, reading my stories and poems, and (maybe) leaving a comment (or TWO). Blessings all ways.

Right so you obviously clicked on this page to learn more about me!
In my many hours watching Scott and Bailey with my mum I have learnt that there are a variety of psychopaths out there and for that reason I won’t providing my name, address or anything that could have me killed!
I aspire to become a Journalist and enter Politics (no sarcasm). I am somewhat of a chatterbox when it comes to speaking; I know this because my teachers always threatened to sellotape my mouth during classes! Anyways I hope to share with you my views and work and whatever comes in my head really.
Here are 5 facts about me:
-When my mum was pregnant with me the doctors told her to have an abortion because I would not survive
-I have green eyes which sometimes change colour depending on my mood (especially when I cry)
-I have something against forgetting to rub out bits of writing on the board , it kind of just makes my eyes go dry :/
-I have never lived outside of South London
-My birthday is 3 days before Christmas so I never get b’day punches at school
