"I'm scared" the child whispered as she laid upon the floor
Her eyes were wide and focused on a crack
In the wooden wardrobe door

"What are you afraid of?" her mother questioned
Swiftly moving the chair, so the child had no protection

"There's a monster in my wardrobe" she stammered
Shutting her eyes
Wishing her words were lies

"There are no monsters here" her mother replied
The child flew onto her bed
Under her duvet and cried

"Then why do I see it every night in my dreams? Every day when I wake when the sun nears and beams?"

"We think all things good and all things bad, but they're as real as you want them to be" her mother said suddenly

"Then I must stop thinking" the child muffled
Her voice faint through her pillow fort as she shuffled

"No worries my child, let your imagination run wild" her mother boomed
Removing the child's cover in an instant
The child grew persistent

"But why would I want to think such scary things?" the child was confused
Her thoughts were convoluted and bruised

"Our mind can be distracted when all is light. We don't always know what will fester at night"

"I'm scared" the child said once more

"It's ok to be scared" her mother assured
"Your mind is a prism of colour and awe; you'll realise one day that it needs no cure"
