We were laying together
Talking, hungover, of course,
You smiled and asked me to stay a while,
So I did
With sweet music
We relaxed
Chilling as your fingers caressed my back
I laid out your room
As it plays in my memory
Even though my head was heavy
Everything was light,
It was a nice change,
A change I wish would remain
You invited me out,
Told me to shower at yours,
Reuse the clothes from the night before
As I recoiled in disgust at the thought
My heart warmed
And then I woke up
Alone in a double bed
Glanced around at piles of clothes and an ageing dog sprawled across the floor
And remembered my life is a mess
And while I try so hard to push everything with meaning away
They desperately cling to my chest
I cried that morning
Thinking of that time we shared,
It meant more to me than you'll ever know or care
