Having settled into our, government paid for, home in Germany, the Black forrest teasing the surroundings, I was determined to explore and make new friends, find like minded people.
That was possible here.
I actually thought it possible!
Well, while trying to make arrangements for a secret shopping trip with some new girlfriends, into downtown Munich, I was going to have to speak to them later so times were arranged at school to talk later.
I had to speak to a couple of them on the phone.
I knew I would not be allowed to venture that far away on the S-bahn train system, frankly, only because we hadn't lived there long enough, yet and I knew my parents would'nt let me go.
I was just 13.
Well, this group of girls and I had made up some codes to use over the phone in case any parents walked in during our short leash, telephone conversations.
No long cords on these phones. If you could'nt talk openly then you should'nt be talking about it at all, was the rule.
The time came for the secret planning so, I poked my head into my parents dark " off-limits" bedroom.
Small beams of light, gleaming through the drapes, allowing for me to see I was alone and could speak freely.
Quietly lifting the telephone reciever from it's cradle, I gingerly dialed, as the rapid spin back and CLICK of the circular dial threatened my discovery.
Each number dialed causing my heart to skip a beat faster.
A brief moment of fear that keeps you aware of your surroundings. Looking around.... I thought... Can't get... caught. Don't get caught kept churning around in your head.
Success.
Zero outside interference.
Connected!
Speaking to three girls on one end and me on the other our "code" lingo was rolling along smoothly as my eyes stayed focused on the door into the room, left open for a quick escape, if needed.
Just as I finish getting all relevent information for the secret rendevous, I hear a rustle...a rustle and a crinkle and then a voice....
.... the voice was clearing with an low grumble, mufflied slightly as it came clearly through the wall calmly saying...

" Do you have any idea what I do for a living ?"

FEAR struck like a lightening bolt from HELL as I sheepishly replied "no" , turning and shaking towards the white shaded wall.... from wence "the voice" came....
A loud THUNK and rustle sounded down to the floor, as loud water RUSH and swoosh from a TANK roared... and my dad walks around the corner out the hidden half- bath, bathroom door.
BUSTED!
Hate bathroom libraries......not any more!
Spies kids.
