‘We don’t meet people by accident. They are meant to cross our path for a reason.’
I don’t know why I find this quote so peculiar but I just do. I think it’s because I always wonder ‘what if that had never happened?’ or ‘what if I had never said yes/no?’ but most of all, ‘what if I had never met this person?’. I think this question runs marathons in everyone’s mind on a daily basis.
Is it really fate that a stranger has turned to a friend? Or is it just coincidence that you bumped into them on the street and they delayed you for your meeting or whatever and has consequently messed up your whole day because of that fraction of a second of you dropping your things and scrambling together to retrieve them into your clasp? It just absolutely baffles me to think whether this was planned or an accident. Because even if this person, who you have bumped into for 2 seconds, doesn’t end up being anymore to you than a stranger even after the encounter, they have made a difference to your life. Although it would take you time to figure it out, without them things could have ended up totally different. You would have never been late. You would have never gotten fired. You would have never been homeless. Okay, yes that was very extreme, but I need to get my point across.
Or maybe, they are sent into our lives not to just cross our paths, but change it completely. We develop a friendship that completely changes our direction and makes us realise what we want to do or can do without even realising. They are guardian angels in a way, sent down to help us find ourselves. Maybe people are all here to help each other unintentionally.
Is everything planned or are they just careful coincidences? I don’t know, and I don’t think I will ever know.
Do you think we meet people by accident?
