CBS News reports that Republican state legislators in Florida are considering a bill that would put cameras in classrooms, and force teachers to wear microphones, so parents can monitor the lessons that students are being taught. Republicans defend the move by claiming classrooms are not teachers’ “private space.”

Wait - the party of “government should stay out of people's lives” - says what? Wow, seems as if good old Gov. Ron DeSantis and his MAGA pals are actually “out North Korea-ing,” the North Koreans. Why, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if Kim Jong-un, sues the State of Florida for copyright infringement.

Hell, and while they’re at it, they may as well mandate teachers wear “shock collars” also. That way, should a teacher happen to say something which MAGA parents, Evangelicals, or Republicans don’t completely approve of, a little jolt of electricity will immediately “remind” teachers not to venture too far off the “approved party line.”

One thing’s for sure, you can bet a lot of Florida’s teachers are going to quit in response to these Draconian measures taken by the Republicans, but I’m quite sure that doesn’t bother Gov. DeSantis one bit. He’ll simply fill all the vacancies with recent “Liberty University” grads. Why, that’s one way to make sure the world remains only 6000 years old in people’s minds.

Fact is, educated people are the greatest threat there is to Republican Party rule. Their goal is to dismantle public education, just like they tried doing with the Post Office. Now, in response to this nonsense, some Florida residents are suggesting that if teachers have to wear microphones, so should politicians. Well, I have to respectfully disagree. The last thing these politicians need are “microphones!” Why, what they really need - are muzzles.
