I was sitting in a group of about six little girls who were showing each other their missing teeth.

They were talking about Tooth Fairy and were grinning at me proudly whenever I asked them to show me their smiles.

I asked one little girl to smile at me and she did so automatically but then added nervously that her teeth are not very white. She said those words quickly and unexpectedly, her silent thoughts were suddenly voiced.

She unconsciously revealed all her worries in those words, I knew, and so I made sure my answer is firm so she would replace her belief for mine.

I looked at her encouragingly: ‘Your teeth are healthy and white, I do not know what are you talking about, they are beautiful’, I said and she beamed at me.

I knew she believed me by the way she laughed, her tensed body relaxed immediately and she just stood there grinning at me.

If she had not believed me, I would make sure I mention her beautiful teeth over and over until her old belief is replaced with a new one.

Her thought was not rooted in her mind yet and therefore it was easy to change it.

But if she did not smile at me that day and I did not change it, her negative thoughts about her smile would grow stronger and stronger. She would become more and more aware and concious about her smile.

Her teeth were white and perfect, yet it would not matter to her, all she would be able to see would be the image her thoughts were producing; an imperfect smile.

Even though it would not be true, she would make it her truth.
This is how we create Illusion.
