Before Queens' Park rose for the Christmas holidays (for 2 months, just for the record) a piece of legistlation known as Bill 27 was passed by the House.
Among other things (in my view it was an omnibous bill) there was a section there that dealt with the ongoing hydro crisis in Ontario.
In this area of the bill it was stated for all intention purposes that, after six months of hundreds of thousands of people being cut off from hydro thanks to Kathleen Wynnes' "mistake" that a moritorium was declared and no one would be cut off power during the winter.
It's pretty pathetic that in a province and country like ours that there even needs to be legistlation like this, but....welcome to Kathleen Wynne's Ontario.
Only in Kathleen Wynne's Ontario can you present a bill that in one way appears to help the thousands struggling through the winter with insane hydro costs and STILL MANAGE to cause them more aggravation by not covering all the bases involved in possible scenarios involved in the disconnection of power.
Let me make my point.
I am one of those thousands of people. I am also a cardiac patient who suffers from high anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress caused by a criminal act on the job where I almost died. Due to affordability and no medical coverage for mental illness I had received no treatment (WSIB is a whole other story....thank you Kevin Flynne Minister of Labour).
I don't need Kathleen Wynne's infliction of stress. All I have to do is look at the woman on my TV and I immediately change the channel at that is how angry I am with her.
That being said...let me continue.
I am behind on my hydro bill. I will admit that and I own it. My husband and I pay what we can when we can....but we need to eat. Food is a necessity of life and we have other obligations besides Hydro One...like a mortgage.
I am NOT eligible for any type of assistance with paying my hydro like the much touted LEAP Program that constantly comes out of Wynnes' mouth like it is a God given right for everyone in the province.
Last week I received a notice stating that if I didn't pay $1600.00+ by Janurary 21st, 2017 that my power was at risk of "being limited" meaning a load limiter was a definite possibility.
For the record....a 15 AMP load limiter will NOT power up my furnace.
A load limiter is a form of disconnection. Hydro One is cutting the flow of power to my home during the winter. Bill 27 was supposed to protect people from being disconnected during the winter.
If this is Kathleen Wynne's idea of a joke I am not laughing and my blood pressure is going up.
Now I have to, once again, get on the phone with these tyrants and beg to keep that limiter off the house during one of the coldest times of year.
I'm tired of begging. I am tired of being verbally abused. I am sure I am sure I am not the only one as there are still people shivering due to disconnection because of unaffordability.
There is even one in the grave. His name is Kenny Taylor of Curve Lake near Peterborough who disconnected in July and killed in October as his generator blew up while he tried to survive with what many of us consider a necessity.
Thanks for nothing Kathleen Wynne. You are the biggest narcissistic bully....not to mention a phony....that this province has ever seen.
You have brought Ontario to its knees by driving investment out of the province in droves.
If we ever recover from your terrorism it will be a miracle.
